Frequently Asked Questions

Our FAQs answer general questions; if you want to ask something more specifically, then please contact us directly (details are on the Contact Us page)

When is your first scheduled flight?

POP is aiming to launch the first flight to Amritsar in 2018. We are aiming to fly to Ahmedabad shortly thereafter.

How many times a week will you be flying to each destination?

In the initial period we intend to fly three services weekly to each destination, moving up to six services per week very quickly once increased passenger demand is obvious.

Why did you choose Amritsar and Ahmedabad?

The Indian communities in the UK have been demanding their own flights to Amritsar and Ahmedabad for many years, so the demand is there. Other destinations in India will be also announced in the future.

How long does it take to fly to Amritsar and Ahmedabad?

About 8.5 hours, but a little quicker or slower depending on the prevailing winds and the season.

How far are the airports from the city centres?

Both Amritsar and Ahmedabad airports are very close to the city centres, about 6–7 miles

Will you be flying to any other destinations and when?

Announcements will be made soon after POP starts flying about further destinations, but India’s other second cities are a target initially.

How modern are the aircraft POP is proposing to use?

POP's proposition is to use A330-300s, a state-of-the-art aircraft with modern standards and comfort. POP's intention is to use the same aircraft as our competitors, with some options (e.g. wi-fi) not available on their aircraft.

How much luggage is allowed in the hold and in the cabin?

One piece of hand-luggage in the cabin; and two suitcases (20kg each) in the hold.

What are the maximum dimensions of the hold luggage and hand luggage?

The dimensions will be announced in due course.

What food are you offering?

POP's desire is to offer a selection of truly authentic vegetarian and non-vegetarian options of classic Punjabi and Gujarati dishes created by staff skilled at cooking Indian food. And all served in generous thali-sized portions. Western options will also be available.

What’s your in-flight entertainment?

POP's intention is to have wi-fi access available. If the case, it means passengers can bring their mobile devices on-board and access the internet via wi-fi.

How do the charities get chosen?

POP has carefully selected charities that fall with our target areas: orphanages, sick and/or malnourished children, mothers and women, provide education, and assist the hungry, homeless, destitute, disabled and elderly in need – along with the physical environment, which POP will work hard to protect in both the UK and India.

How many times a year do you report back on the good works being done?

The frequency with which charities provide us with updates depends on the nature of the project being supported, but at least several times a year; all updates will appear on our website as they become available.

How do the charities receive their money?

All money donated will be distributed by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). CAF validates all charities before transferring any money, which means that we can be sure that our charities are operating legitimately before we part with our money.
